The Men
Dewey Stratton believed in hard work and good
land. It took Dewey Stratton eleven tires and seventeen days over
a wood plank trail to get to California. He worked every odd job
he could find. A share cropper in Missouri he had one dream. He
knew one day he would own a ranch in California
Charles Lummis walked from Ohio to his job as
the first editor of the Los Angeles Times. It took him 143 days.
The subject of several books, Lummis was a writer, photographer,
archeologist, created the slogan "See America First", was knighted
by the King of Spain, helped to save the Missions, and founded
the SouthWest Museum. His home is a historical landmark open
to the public.
Both men loved good wine, lavish food, and raucous parties–as
do we. With honorable mention to all the women who put up with
them, we name this wine in their honor.
